2023 Ray Nadaskay

Ray Nadaskay was passionate and committed to preserving history and his greatest and most enduring legacy to our community was saving the historic Ralston Cider Mill. Ray initiated the formation of a nonprofit to raise funds to restore the Mill back to its original condition and to preserve it as a working museum, after more than 70 years of inactivity. Today, the Mill draws school groups, Scouts and historians and is a tourist destination for visitors from across the state. The annual Fall apple pressing to produce cider has become a beloved tradition for our community. Ray continued to serve as president of the Cider Mill board of trustees. He also served as a member and Chair of the township Historic Preservation Committee, almost from its inception some 40 years ago, and was a member of the Open Space Committee. He was on the Blue Ribbon Committee for the Morris County Historic Preservation Trust Fund. In 2019, when Ray was stepping off the Historic Preservation Committee, the Township Committee honored him with a special Proclamation. He was recognized for his "inspiration, dedication, and leadership" to our community. Ray will be missed, but the Cider Mill stands as a testimony to his perseverance and vision.

In addition to Ray's generosity and service to the community, he was an accomplished architect and a founding principal of NK Architects, where he served as principal-in-charge and design architect on many of their most significant and award-winning projects.
