The Great Swamp Watershed Association Native Plant Sale & Webinar Series is Here!

Most people know that planting native species in our yards provides a huge benefit for birds, butterflies, bees, and other wildlife. Last year the Mendham Township Environmental Commission launched The Nature of Mendham's Community Wildlife Habitat certification program which aims to have homeowners certify their yards as wildlife habitat with The National Wildlife Federation. Learn more about how to certify your property online.

In April, you can buy native plants through the Third Annual Great Swamp Watershed Association Native Plant Sale, partnered by the Mendham Township Environmental Commission, with 14 of our neighboring towns. The GSWA will offer deep-rooted landscape plugs of thirty-five locally native wildflower species. Check out the Native Plant Sale Catalog for more information.

How the Sale Works
The online sale will kick off at 1:30pm, Monday April 3 and run through close of business on Friday, April 28, with local plant pickup on Saturday May 6.

These plants have been carefully selected for their ability to thrive with minimal care, attract pollinators, and to grow well in a variety of conditions around the yard from dry shade to the strip between sidewalk and road commonly known as "the hell strip." Most are resistant to deer.

Webinar series
The GSWA is also helping both novice and expert gardeners build their knowledge and prepare for the plant sale by hosting a series of monthly webinars. Led by nationally acclaimed subject matter experts, these one-hour webinars focus on native plants and the essential role a variety of pollinators play in the ecosystem.

Next webinar is Feb 21, 7-8 PM: Wasps: The Astonishing Diversity of a Misunderstood Insect. Please register to attend and access past recordings.
