2024 Ski Club Information

The Townshp of Mendham is happy to present our annual Ski/Snowboard program. Our ski club program is open to all children in Grades 6 through 12. This year, the program will continue to take place over six Sundays at Camelback Ski Resort in Tannersville, PA.

Transportation  Lift Tickets are included in registration. This program is fully supervised.

2024 Program Dates: January 7, 14, 28 and February 4, 11, 25

• YES! The progrm will be held on MLK Weekend – Sunday, January 14
• There will be NO program on Sunday, January 21 OR Presidents Weekend – Sunday, February 18, 2024

Departure: 7:00 AM (please arrive at 6:45 AM – busses will not arrive prior to 6:45 AM. Pick up: We depart Camelback at 3:00 PM and arrive in Mendham between approximately 4:00 and 4:15 PM

Both Departure and Pick up will take place at 18 West Main Street, Brookside, NJ at the Mendham Township Elementary School.

Price for six-week program: $620.00 (2 triple play passes x $199 + $37 bus fee x 6 weeks)

Please note that this year, there will be ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS AT ALL FOR SKI LIFT PASSES.

• Mendham Recreation will be purchasing participants two “Triple Passes” through Group Sales. These Triple Passes will be activated on the trip days. Should a child miss a day, the passes can be used on a date that you visit the mountain on your own.

Please note, because Triple Passes are being purchased, we will only be able to refund the price of the bussing only in the case of a documented injury or illness with a doctor’s note.

Mendham Township & Mendham Borough residents receive "IN TOWN" pricing. There is a $25.00 out of town fee applied to all out of town residents.

Register by Friday, December 8, 2023 or we reach 150 participants

Camelback’s Day Pass rate through Group Sales has skyrocketed to over $70 per day (compared to $50 previously). I have negotiated for them to allow us to purchase Triple Play Passes. I have enough Triple Passes reserved for us to accommodate 150 skiers. After the mountain sells out of Triple Passes, this pricing cannot be accommodated and we will be held to the $70 per day rate. Usually this is around December 8. If you register after December 8, I anticipate the price to go up to approximately $700. So PLEASE, register EARLY this year. It has not been easy developing a cost-effective plan!

NEW FOR 2024 SEASON: IT IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN EVER TO REGISTER BY DECEMBER 8. TO HAVE PASSES ATTACHED TO INDIVIDUALS, I WILL BE REGISTERING EACH INDIVIDUAL. THIS WILL ALLOW FOR REPLACEMENTS FOR LOST PASSES. But it makes it more important to register on time

There is the option to add on ski or snowboard lessons for $50 per week. These lessons are 90-minute lessons provided by the Camelback staff.

Additional Notes:

A Power of Attorney Form (which must be notarized) will be required once registrations are processed. This will only be used in the event of an emergency and a parent/guardian or emergency contact cannot be reached. This form will be made available at a later date during a parent meeting in mid December.

We are asking that each person contribute and additional $6.00 in cash for gratuity to the bus driver. This comes out to be $1.00 per week. Please bring the $6.00 when dropping off the notarized Power of Attorney Form at a date to be announced. Seal it in an envelope with the participant's name written on the outside.

All correspondence will be done through Message Manager in Community Pass. Please ensure that your CELL PHONE and EMAIL ADDRESS are correct in the Family Homepage as text and email alerts will be sent.

Equipment Rentals

In order to save time and money, by selecting "Agree" you agree to renting equipment for the full season and bringing it to the bus drop on the day of the trip. (Rentals are available locally through Pelican Sports Center, 2980 Route 10, Morris Plains, NJ 07950.

Parents and Siblings Who Would Like to Join:

• We will do our best to make ski lift tickets available to parents. We have a very low number of lift tickets available for chaperones.
  • Please do not be assume that lift tickets will be available on given dates
  • David Guida will confirm the availability of parent lift tickets the day before a trip
• When a parent is joining, younger siblings may be invited to join.
  • Siblings who would like to join may also come but must have their own passes. Siblings joining will be asked to pay the bussing fee of $37 per day.
