Biography

Amalia graduated with a B.A. from New York University with double major in journalism and political science. Amalia Duarte won her second term to the Township Committee in 2020. She is the Public Affairs Director for a nonprofit, ECLC of New Jersey, and serves on the Board of the Alliance of Private Special Education Schools of North Jersey. She is a Board member of Brookside Community Church; Schiff Nature Preserve; the Sharing Project, and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, NJ Chapter. She is an active member of the Rotary Club of the Mendhams. Prior to her election, she served for many years on the township’s Recreation Commission and was the Vice Chair of the Board of Adjustment. She volunteered as a longtime youth sports coach in basketball and soccer and served on the Board of the West Morris Soccer Club. She has lived in the township for 23 years, raising two children who attended Mendham’s public schools.
