Mendhams "Stomp Out the Stigma Walk" Sunday, May 15

Residents are invited to join the first Mendhams "Stomp Out the Stigma Walk" on Sunday, May 15, to celebrate May as Mental Health Awareness Month!

Sponsored by the Mendhams Stigma-Free Task Force, the Walk's goal is to promote open conversations about mental health and substance use and support those in our community who are struggling.

Walkers will gather at Mendham High School for check-in between 1 p.m.-1:45 p.m. The Walk steps off at 2 p.m., up Main Street to the Hilltop School for a Wellness Resource Fair, kids' activities, music & more!

Participants will receive a special Stigma-Free T-shirt and other goodies! Sign up to walk or become a sponsor through Community Pass.

Proceeds go toward sponsoring a People's Picnic Table. The table is painted in a special "Optimistic Yellow" color and will serve as a highly visible marker to raise awareness about mental health and to encourage conversations. This is an initiative of the Mental Health Association of Essex and Morris.

The Stigma-Free Task Force began discussing a Walk back in 2020 and is so excited it is finally happening! We want to thank our organizing sponsor: the Rotary Club of the Mendhams.

There is no health without good mental health. Together, we can end the stigma!
