MCMUA Collection

Recycling Collection is provided via contracts with Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority.

For questions about recycling collection, please call 973-543-4555. Residents can send additional recycling questions by email.

Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority provides recycling pickup on Mondays. Recycling is all-in-one, single-stream. Residents can recycle cans, bottles, paper and cardboard together in the same container for recycling to be picked up all on one day.

Inclement Weather or Missed Material:

Mendham Township is now single-stream so both sets of materials are collected every week.  In the event of a cancelation due to inclement weather, the MCMUA will collect recyclables the following week unless a makeup date is scheduled.  Should collection fall on a holiday, a holiday makeup schedule will be put in place with advance notice.

Preparation of Recyclable Materials:

For Mendham Township, the MCMUA collects single-stream mixed recyclables. This means that aluminum, glass bottles and jars, steel cans and plastic containers (#1, #2, #5 only) can be mixed with recyclable paper including newspaper, corrugated cardboard, junk mail, office paper, magazines, cartons, etc., for curbside collection.  Additionally, none of the newspaper or cardboard needs to be bundled or tied.

Container Weight: There is a 50 pound weight limit on each filled recycling container put out at curbside for collection by MCMUA.  MCMUA suggests no larger than 32-gallon containers so residents to not go above the single container 50-pound limit.  Use multiple containers for set-outs heavier than 50 pounds.

Recyclables must be placed at the curb the night before collection.  By placing materials out the night before, residents ensure that curbside recyclables are picked up.
