Garbage is collected once a week using Blue Diamond Disposal, a private contractor. Township residents pay only for the amount of garbage they produce. The hauler’s overhead costs are paid by contract through municipal taxes. You pay a sticker fee to cover the cost of disposal at the Morris County Transfer Station.

Stickers are available in lots of ten at $.70 per sticker for 15 pounds of garbage.
One sticker must be affixed for every 15 pounds of garbage. If several bags are placed in a garbage can, place one sticker on the top bag so that it is visible when the lid is removed. Garbage without a sticker will not be collected.
Garbage includes all waste resulting from handling, preparation, cooking or consumption of foods. Garbage also includes normal household rubbish or refuse which is not recyclable, not hazardous waste and not bulk trash.
Bulk trash includes furniture, carpets mattresses, large toys, empty paint cans (not oil based), or other items too large to fit into a garbage can. Weight stickers are now required for bulk trash (see below for additional information). Bulk trash DOES NOT INCLUDE any type of construction, building, demolition or renovation materials, automotive parts, televisons or vegetative waste.
White goods (refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, washers & dryers) are also collected, however, you must certify the removal of Freon. Call Blue Diamond Disposal (973-598-9800) to make special arrangements, or click here for information regarding a Refrigerator/Freezer Recycling Program that reimburses homeowners for their used refrigerators and freezers.
* Residents not wishing to participate in the Township garbage collection program may opt to hire their own private contractor directly. For information on private waste haulers consult the local yellow pages of your phone book.
