Crews from Jersey Central Power and Light continue to work in the Township, restoring power to several additional streets late this afternoon (including service to Mendham Township Middle School). A few further restorations may be completed this evening. Unfortunately due to the magnitude of the damage in the Township and the number of crews available to JCP&L to work in this area (due to demands in other portions of the area), the company advises that it may be several more days before the the majority of outages are restored. They further advise that in some isolated cases where the damage is substantial, the restoration may take even longer. The Township has requested street level estimated restoration schedules for future updates. We recognize that this detail is desired by residents for planning purposes and the Township leadership has stressed the need to expedite the preparation of this data. Company officials have advised that they understand the request and hope to be able to provide such detailed information shortly. The Township will publicize this information as soon as it is provided. In the meantime, please continue to take advantage of the services the Township can provide such as the shelter facilities at the Brookside Firehouse. Residents with special needs can also contact the Township Fire Department to arrange for temporary generator service. The Fire Department number is 973-543-7213.
Please stay tuned for further updates. Hopefully we will be able to share positive news for your neighborhood shortly.
