Planning/Zoning Department The Planning Board functions under the guidelines established by the New Jersey Municipal Land Use Law, N.J.S.A. 40:55D. It is a volunteer board comprised of seven (7) regular members and two (2) alternate members, all appointed by the Township Committee. Click here to view the members of the Planning Board. In most cases a proposal for land use begins with an application which is filed at Town Hall with the Planning Board secretary. Applications conforming to Township zoning are considered by the Planning Board. Non-conforming land use proposals are considered by the Board of Adjustment. Pursuant to the Municipal Land Use Law, the Township imposes escrow fees to recover expenses incurred in processing applications. Depending on the schedule of the Planning Board and the complexity of the application, the period to complete the process is generally between three (3) to nine (9) months. BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT The Board of Adjustment is responsible for considering applications that require

This body also hears appeals from decisions made by the Townships Zoning
Officer. Pursuant to the Municipal Land Use Law, the Township imposes escrow fees on an
