Today’s storm is primarily impacting northern New Jersey and JCP&L has deployed additional resources to the area to respond to potential power outages.
Overall, JCP&L has 777 personnel available. This consists of 458 line personnel, 210 forestry workers and 109 substation workers. Additional support personnel have also been assigned to their storm roles.
Crews from FirstEnergy’s Potomac Edison that arrived last night are being staged in Morristown and will be deployed from there. Additional contractors are being staged in West Wharton and crews from central New Jersey have also been sent to line shops in Summit and Flemington to assist if needed.
Customers without power are encouraged to call 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877) to report their outage or click the “Report Outage” link on www.firstenergycorp.com. Customers should immediately report downed wires to their utility or to their local police or fire department. Customers should never go near a downed power line, even if they think it is no longer carrying electricity. Extra caution should be used in areas where downed lines are tangled in trees or other debris.
The JCP&L Incident Command Team will continue to monitor conditions and provide additional updates.
